With Health 2.0’s 10th Annual Fall Conference just around the corner, I decided to put together a brief “where are they now?” post highlighting some previous participants of my two favorite Health 2.0 events: Launch! and Traction.
For those who aren’t familiar with the events, here is a quick reminder:
- Launch!: Gives ten new companies the opportunity to demo their product on stage for the very first time.
- Traction: Has “Series A ready” companies compete to be recognized as the most fundable startup from venture capitalists and corporate investors.
For the sake of attention spans, I’ve narrowed things down to three standout organizations from both 2014 and 2015. So, without further adieu, your Health 2.0 Launch! and Traction standouts from the last two years.
Medisafe
2014 Traction Winner: Consumer Facing
“ A very intuitive medication reminder system (and a lot more) that helps patients and their families take their pills correctly. It’s had nearly a million organic downloads with no marketing. On the back end, it’s a powerful data platform helping create better patient engagement and raise medication adherence.”
Since picking up their hardware in 2014 Medisafe has gone on to:
- Close a $6mn Series A
- Be named a GooglePlay Editors’ Choice App (with incredible download and review stats)
- Launched a commercial offering for pharma and life science companies
- Create my favorite advertisements in healthcare (One more because they are genius)
Tute Genomics
2014 Traction Winner: Provider Facing
“ Allows researchers to analyze & interpret entire human genomes and discover genes and biomarkers faster than current practices.”
Tute has gone on to:
- Close a $3.9mn Series A
- Acquire Genomics Firm Knome (a seriously fascinating move)
- Launched a crowdfunding campaign targeting consumer genome sequencing
Zest Health
2014 Traction Winner: Consumer Facing
“ Sells a care concierge and benefits selection service to employers. Employees get symptom checking, key benefits information, and the ability to book, receive, and pay for care online. Or as they say, it’s like Teladoc meets Zocdoc, Mint meets Castlight, & Groupon meets Priceline. All in one.”
Bloom Technologies
2015 Launch! Participant
“D iscrete, wireless wearable for expecting mothers to track contractions and other changes to improve maternal and neonatal outcomes.”
PatientPop
2015 Traction Winner: Consumer Facing
“Has developed the first Practice Growth Platform for healthcare providers – an all-in-one marketing solution for patient acquisition, retention, reputation management and business insights.”
- Closed a $20.5mn Series A
- Listen to CEO Luke Kervin talk about scaling from 10 to 130 employees in 12 months
Redox
2015 Traction Winner: Provider Facing
It’s nostalgic looking back. We were really just describing our vision for how we wanted to approach interoperability with a few live sites under our belts. Now we’re powering hundreds of apps at health systems from coast to coast.

Gliimpse
2015 Launch! Participant
“Collects and organizes a patient’s entire health history, across vendors, health systems, and more, to create a streamlined health profile.”
Overwhelmingly, organizations selected for Health 2.0’s Launch! or Traction events have gone on to secure financing and positively evolve their solution. It’s a testament to the work put in by the selection committees as well as the exciting environment that is digital health in 2016.
With another class preparing to demo and pitch, remember to ask yourself, are you watching the next PatientPop? Maybe the next Gliimpse?
Till next time!
