“First Breath” smoking cessation program can streamline referrals to increase participation

Madison, WI—August 7, 2019

Redox and the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation (WWHF) today announced that WWHF went live with electronic referrals at OB/GYN clinics at a local integrated health system through “Redox Gives,” a program to ensure that nonprofits and public health teams have the necessary access to data to fully empower their initiatives.

WWHF is a nonprofit organization that provides free women’s health education and support programs for women and their families throughout Wisconsin and administers funds for women’s health research initiatives. WWHF uses the Redox integration platform to streamline the way providers refer patients to the program, helping to increase usage and eliminate unnecessary clerical work. This streamlined workflow is now live at OB/GYN clinics at a local integrated health system.

WWHF is starting its Redox partnership with its “First Breath” program. This free, statewide program helps pregnant women, new moms, and members of their families to quit smoking. The program trains health care staff to “Ask, Advise, and Refer” smokers to WWHF, where “Quit Coaches” provide smoking cessation counseling. To date, WWHF offers 240 First Breath sites that have served 20,000 women, and can boast that over half of participants quit or cut back smoking during pregnancy. In addition, 80 percent of all First Breath participants report achieving a smoke-free home by six months postpartum.

“Our partnership with Redox has exceeded expectations,” said Lisette Khalil, MS, JD, WWHF operations director. “We can better serve families as they join the program, as well as connect with health provider networks throughout the state. By removing much of the paperwork involved in bringing people in, we can focus on getting their families on their journey to improved health.”

“We are motivated by the fact that we are all patients. And even heroes need help every once in a while,” said Niko Skievaski, co-founder and president of Redox. “‘Redox Gives’ exists to support organizations that traditionally wouldn’t have the resources to purchase Redox but would benefit from our integration platform and services. And we are thrilled that our partnership with WWHF gives people the help they need to be healthy and pass that down for generations.”

“Redox Gives” is available to qualifying nonprofit and public health organizations in the United States. To learn more about “Redox Gives” and determine eligibility, please visit https://www.redoxengine.com/redox-gives/.Tweet this:
