Chronic diseases, such as cardiac arrest, drive health system patient monitoring needs.
As the patient monitoring device market experiences an expected 1.8 fold increase in growth from 2020 to 2028, the lions share of monitoring devices—51.5%—are currently used within the 4 walls of a health system. This share is attributed to the rising emphasis on effective and early disease diagnosis in hospitals, and the growing procedural volume in hospital settings.
This focus aligns to the product growth within the cardiac monitoring systems segment. It held 19.5% of the revenue share in 2020 for patient monitoring devices. Furthermore, in 2016 around 209,000 patients suffered from in-hospitals cardiac arrest in the U.S.,1 and the number is expected to grow globally from 17.6 million deaths in 2016 to more than 23.6 million gobally by 2030—according to the America Heart Association (AHA)
