Carolina OB/GYN was founded in 1988 by Dr. Gayle Richmond, the first female OB/GYN in both Horry and Georgetown Counties and the third female physician to join Georgetown Memorial Hospital. From its early beginnings in a small building next to Georgetown Memorial Hospital, the practice has grown to include three locations staffed by five female board-certified physicians and three certified nurse midwives. While many things have changed since 1988, Carolina OB/GYN’s philosophy of ‘Compassionate Care for Women by Women’ remains constant. At Carolina OB/GYN, our clinical expertise and advanced medical technology are only the beginning. A shared passion for providing the best in women’s healthcare is our singular focus. It drives us to understand the unique healthcare needs of women and to get to know each of our patients. Think of it as state-of-the-art women’s healthcare offered with compassion and personalized attention.
