Overview

Founded in 1915 by auto pioneer Henry Ford, Henry Ford Health System (HFHS) is one of the nations leading comprehensive, integrated health systems. It provides health insurance and health care delivery, including acute, specialty, primary and preventive care services backed by excellence in research and education. HFHS is a not-for-profit corporation managed by President & Chief Executive Officer Wright Lassiter III, and governed by a 21-member Board of Trustees, with volunteer-led advisory and affiliate boards providing additional leadership. HFHS is a 2011 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient. Teaching, research and advanced patient care make HFHS a premier academic medical center. Affiliated with Wayne State Universitys School of Medicine, Henry Ford provides innovative physician training programs and collaborates on leading-edge medical research. Henry Ford is a state and national leader in medical education for medical students, interns, residents and fellows and the continuing education of faculty, affiliated physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. In collaboration with Wayne State University School of Engineering and Center for Creative Studies, the Henry Ford Innovation Institute aims to research and design medical products to enhance medical use and to create new industry in the region. With more than 30,000 employees (2017), Henry Ford is the sixth-largest employer in metro Detroit, and amongst the most diverse.
